Instagram launches link sticker

Instagram is replacing the ‘Swipe up link’ feature in Stories for a ‘Link sticker’. Initially, Instagram says it will only be available to those that have the ‘Swipe up link’ feature but in due course everyone should be able to add direct links to their Stories as well as comment on others Stories with the new Link sticker.

As well as the new link sticker, Instagram is working on a new Get Quote (called me named Quote) sticker for Stories.
Comment: Handy for freelancers and tradespeople and their customers.

On Thursday last week, Instagram is started testing a ‘Re-Share’ sticker for Instagram Stories, which will enable people to re-share feed posts via a new, dedicated sharing format, as opposed to simply re-pasting the entire feed post into a Stories frame.

Facebook Reels are coming

Facebook has introduced a new Paralympics hub to provide up-to-the-minute insights on the paralympics’ latest results, news and highlights. The social media giant has also introduced a wide variety of tools, helping users participate in the games. The hub will also include athlete and team profiles as well as interactive elements like games, quizzes and related posts from your connections to highlight key conversations of interest. The hub is accessible by tapping on the #Paralympics hashtag.

Facebook is testing new For You/Explore tabbed feeds for Facebook News.

Facebook is working enabling users to send Facebook posts to others via Instagram DM.

Twitter

From today, some Hosts will be able create Ticketed Spaces. ioS only for now.
Comment: A new way to earn money for your wisdom and expertise.

Twitter is working on new ways to help people discover Spaces. For some people, if a someone you’re following is listening to a Space, you’ll see it at the top of your Timeline. Controls about who can see your listening activity are available in Settings.

Twitter is testing the possibility of scheduling a reply.

Talking of LinkedIn Stories…LinkedIn are working on a new Polls sticker.
Comment: Not exactly innovative from LinkedIn…Poll Stickers have been available on Instagram for 5 years. Expect a Link Sticker in about 2050.

TikTok

Users can now shop directly on TikTok thanks to its partnership with Shopify.As flagged up here recently, some TikTok users can now produce videos up to 5 minutes long, but TikTok is now testing even longer videos.

WhatsApp beta in Android and iOS in some countries like Brazil, now has a new payment chat shortcut which allows the sending of quick payments.

WhatsApp is working on reactions to messages which will be available in a future release on iOS and Android.
