How to use IGTV – Instagram’s new video channel

In Monday 30 July’s The #SocialMediaShow, broadcast by Cardiff Social Media Agency, Intranet Future, Jonathan Pollinger takes a look at IGTV – Instagram’s new video channel.

The #SocialMediaShow is aimed at people who use social media for business and it’s purpose is to increase your knowledge and improve your use of social media.

As with all social media content, make sure that you’re providing value to your audience. IGTV particularly lends itself to ‘face to camera’ videos so if you’re a creator consider instructional, educational, information plus videos that provide news. As a viewer, IGTV has a wealth of content you can learn from.

If you’re creating videos then the official 48 page Instagram Creators Handbook is a must. There’s more in the video but 2 important tips. Firstly, make sure that you add a link in the description. It’s great that IGTV, unlike regular Instagram posts, supports this plus make sure you have an appropriate cover photos. You can edit this to make a suitable introductory slide.
