Following the relaxation of Facebook’s competition rules there are still plenty of brands and businesses flouting the rules. Perhaps this is ignorance or maybe deliberate but does it matter? As with all rules, you need to be aware of the potential consequences if you break them.
The rule in question is ‘Sharing’ as a means of entering a competition. This is still not permitted by Facebook despite ‘Likes’ now being allowed as a means of entry.
Facebook’s revised Terms state: “Personal Timelines must not be used to administer promotions (ex: “share on your Timeline to enter” or “share on your friend’s Timeline to get additional entries” is not permitted).”
There’s a possibility that Facebook won’t notice competitions like this:
But if they do your competition could disappear to be replaced with a notice that states:
“We removed something your Page posted”.
If this happened in the example above then Sacla would be left with 364 people wondering what has happened to the competition plus they’d also have no record of who had entered. Not a good scenario for any business.
