As an owner of a Samsung Z Flip 6 phone, I’ve been experimenting with some of the clever AI-powered features that make Samsung phones not just smarter, but more fun to use. Whether you own the S24, Z Fold 6 or Z Flip 6 like me, here are some practical tips that can elevate your Samsung phone experience, especially if you’re a creator of content for social media or your blog.
1. Snap photos with voice commands or gestures
Taking selfies or group shots just got a lot easier. I do like a selfie haha and use this feature all the time on my Z Flip 6 when I’m out running (see my Strava) or need to snap a photo without fumbling for buttons. You can say voice commands like “Cheese” or “Smile,” or raise your palm to the camera to take a photo. Handy features when you’re creating content for your Instagram Posts or Stories.
How to do it:
- Open the Camera app, tap the gear icon for Settings, and then go to Shooting methods.
- Toggle on Voice commands and Show palm.
This feature is perfect for Instagram content creation or taking distance shots, and you can even say, “Record video” to start recording hands-free for your Reels or TikToks.
2. FlexCam with Auto Zoom (Z Flip 6 only)
This one’s for all my fellow Z Flip 6 owners out there and works nicely in parallel with voice commands and gestures. FlexCam allows you to take hands-free selfies while the phone intelligently zooms in and out based on your position in the shot – you might have seen the recent TV ads. It’s great when I’m out and about, running or at a social gathering and need to snap a quick selfie or a group pic.
How to do it:
Double-click the side button with the phone closed, then flip it open and rest it on any surface. FlexCam always finds the best angle.
3. Draw perfect shapes, lines and arrows on your photos, images and screenshots
Ever needed to point out something on a screenshot or highlight part of a document before sharing it on social media? Samsung’s Gallery app can help you draw perfect shapes, lines, and arrows by hand, thanks to AI.
How to do it:
- Open a photo in your gallery, tap Edit (the pencil icon), and go to Decorations (emoji icon).
- Draw a shape, line, or arrow and hold it for a second before lifting your finger. AI will automatically refine it based on what it thinks you were aiming for.
This is a small but useful trick for annotating screenshots, making social media tutorials or explaining how to do something visually on an app or website.
4. Samsung’s generative edit
Samsung’s answer to Google’s Magic Eraser is the generative edit tool, which allows you to move, remove and resize people or objects in photos. This feature is brilliant for editing your Instagram or Facebook shots, making your photos look more professional without needing additional editing apps.
How to do it:
- Open any photo in the Gallery app, tap the pencil icon, and select the Galaxy AI icon.
- Draw around any object you want to delete or move
- Hold your finger over the object and move to your desired location or delete using the erase icon
You can also add objects from one photo to another by selecting 3 dots at the top of a photo then Add from gallery.
5. Add instant slow-mo to your videos
For those moments that deserve a bit of cinematic flair, Instant Slow-Mo is what you need. Whether it’s your child jumping in the air or your dog running, you can slow down specific sections of any video stored in your Gallery – perfect for making your Instagram Reels or TikToks more dramatic.
How to do it:
- Open a video in your Gallery and tap the edit icon.
- Choose the Adjust Speed option and slow down the specific portion you want.
6. Power up your note taking with AI in Samsung Notes
Samsung Notes is already a favourite of mine for jotting down ideas or making lists, but the Galaxy AI integration makes it even more useful. The AI can now summarise notes, auto-format text, and create custom notebook covers. All very handy for when I’m brainstorming blog post ideas or planning content for my clients.
How to do it:
- Open any note in the Samsung Notes app and tap the Galaxy AI icon.
- You’ll get options like Summarize, Auto format, Correct Spelling, and Translate. You can summarise a long note in seconds or turn dense text into bullet points.
This is a huge time-saver, especially if you’re a fan of taking notes throughout the day and during meetings like me.
7. Writing Assist in Samsung Keyboard
The built-in Writing Assist in the Samsung Keyboard is a lifesaver for those quick texts and messages. I’ve been using it to switch up the tone of my writing and fix typos. You can also have some fun and add a bit of humour with Emojify.
How to do it:
- Start typing a message in any app, and before hitting send, tap the Galaxy AI icon.
- You can choose from Professional, Casual, Polite, or Emojify to adjust your message tone.
It’s a great way to tailor your tone depending on whether you’re writing a formal LinkedIn update or a casual Instagram comment.
8. Use Galaxy AI to summarise or translate web pages
I prefer to use Microsoft’s Edge browser with Copilot as that’s embedded across all my apps and tools but if you’re using Samsung’s default browser on your phone, you can enjoy the same benefits when browsing the web. With Galaxy AI, you can instantly summarise or translate web pages – perfect for when you need to quickly digest content or grab ideas for your next blog post or social media campaign.
How to do it:
- Open Samsung Internet, load any webpage, and tap the Galaxy AI icon at the bottom.
- You can choose to summarise the content or translate it into another language. This is perfect for skimming articles and staying on top of trends in the social media industry.
I’ve focussed on features that are helpful for social media and blog content creation are just some of the clever tricks that Samsung’s AI on the newer Samsung phones can do. I haven’t included Live Translate for example. But when it comes to content creation, whether you’re drawing shapes, fixing typos, or taking hands-free selfies for Instagram, Galaxy AI makes these everyday tasks quicker and easier. Give these tips a go on your Samsung phone and let me know how you get on.
